WPJA contest winnings!!

I am very pleased to announce that I won the First place in the Dance/Action category and the Eighths place in the Ceremony category in the Wedding Photojournalists Association contest. I was competing against many very talented photographers around the world.

First Place (Amanda and Ben wedding):

JUDGES COMMENTS: I kept coming back to this photo. It is an incredibly high impact moment. The woman's hair and dress puffed out from twirling around, her leg tossed in the air combined with an intense look in her partners face creates an electric moment.

Eighths Place ( Rachel and Michael wedding):

JUDGES COMMENTS: I like this picture for it's simplicity of form, light and at heart the pure moment of the veil being taken off by the groom and the woman's expression is so beautiful. At that moment she is both there and in some other world and you can imagine the next moment she snaps back into the present, but for the second the photographer took the picture the bride is somewhere else and I love it. The light and even the expression, care and tenderness that the groom is showing is beautiful. Excellent.

Check out Rachel and Michael's wedding slideshow here.

Thank you Kathy and Landra!! I am still processing the news. Honestly I wasn't expecting to get the first place. Anywhere in the top 10 would be great.

I am very exited that you chose me and looking forward to your wedding day!
